Help for Haiti

Haiti fundraiser

AGS raised £292.12 for the Haiti disaster relief fund. We did this through a cake sale and a cash …

Big fundraiser

AGS raised £777.62 on a single morning to support this wonderful charity. Brad Everitt, Army, and Tom Dally, RAF and a former AGS pupil, were on hand to distribute awards for the Autumn term. Students and staff came together and went for a non-uniform day to raise money. Staff raised money by donating cash rather than sending Christmas cards to each other and some hard working KS3 students had a very successful cake sale.

We wish Brad and Tom every success as they run 100 miles between Ewood park and Villa Park.

More Exam Success for AGS

With some additional accreditation now recognised, we can reveal that AGS actaully achieved 62% 5 A*-C, once again establishing another new school record. The previously reported score of 60% was already 9% above the Local Authority target of 51%. So, we can now celebrate this target being beaten by 11%. Fantastic!

AGS is the 4th most improved school in England from 2008-2009.

Our CVA score, Contextual Value Added, broke through the 1000 threshold for the first time, climbing to 1004. English Language and Maths recorded scores which were considered significantly above expectations, on a national basis. CVA is a tricky measure to understand, but essentially it tells us how we have done given the nature of the students we work with, set against a whole range of socio-economic factors such as post code, SEN status, free school meals and so on. 1000 is considered to be a key threshold, anything above demonstrates that we add value.
