Welcome to Design & Technology

Design and Technology is concerned with developing the ability of students to use materials, tools and systems to create, modify, control and improve their environment. The subject is about identifying needs, generating ideas, planning, making and testing in order to find the best solutions. It also brings together thinking and doing skills.

In Design and Technology we aim to provide a safe, caring environment in which all students can achieve their potential whilst equipping hem with the skills and knowledge which will help them in their future. This curriculum area will foster an interest and awareness in technological activity and development. Students work with a range of materials including food, textiles, wood, plastics and metals and, using appropriate tools, equipment, CAD and CAM, they develop skills to produce a number of quality artefacts.

During Design and Technology lessons students will be given the opportunity to research, analyse, communicate their ideas, problem-solve, work individually and co-operatively in teams.
