Our Vision

Art and Design lessons at Ash Green School should provide every child with a creative experience, providing students with a variety of media with which to experiment and express themselves.

The balanced programme of study that we deliver should enable students to make sense of the world they live in and make them aware of the richness and diversity of society, both today and in other times and cultures.

Every student should achieve their potential through knowledge, skills and understanding of their work. We aim to stretch students of all abilities.

Our aim is to spark an interest in the enjoyment of Art, and then to nurture and develop it through the time the students spend with us. We aim to build on the skills they have already developed, providing them with structured activities to stimulate new ideas and techniques. They will be given the opportunity for increasing independence.

Each child will be provided with a caring, supportive environment where they can consider, think and create their artistic talents, achieving their own personal best work, whatever their ability, and be able to celebrate what they have achieved.

While we are developing their technical, aesthetic and perceptual skills, each student will also be growing in their individual spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Each will be improving their perception of the world. Key skills will be addressed and pupils will be given opportunities to develop their communication, ICT and problem solving capabilities hence improving their own learning and performance. The Arts should enrich the quality of our pupils lives.
