Uniform

School Dress Code

Students will take pride in their personal appearance and in membership of our school community by wearing our agreed school uniform. All items of dress and footwear should be suitable for wear in school in which stairs have to be climbed regularly and in which Health and Safety issues are very important.

Girls & Boys

Sky blue polo shirt with the AGS logos.
Navy blue sweat shirt with the AGS logo.
New addition for 09/10: Navy blue cardigan with the AGS logo.

Girls uniform: Other items

Plain black, full length trousers, no wide flares, jeans or combat trousers
Plain black skirt, knee or calf length
Black sensible shoes (Training shoes, heels, boots, slingbacks or open toe shoes are not allowed). We advise parent’s/carer’s to select footwear carefully given that many manufacturers are now making trainers that look like shoes. Please exercise extra care when purchasing shoes of this nature.
Dark, plain socks
Dark/flesh coloured tights
Dark coloured outdoor coat, not to be worn instead of a school sweatshirt.

Boys uniform: Other items

Plain black, full length trousers, no wide flares, jeans or combat trousers
Black shoes (Training shoes are not allowed). We advise parent’s/carer’s to select footwear carefully given that many manufacturers are now making trainers that look like shoes. Please exercise extra care when purchasing shoes of this nature.

Students must not wear:

• Denim in any form of school wear.
• Hooded tops, jumpers of various colours, t-shirts beneath polo shirts and garments carrying logos other than that of Ash Green School.
• Extreme hairstyles in either cut or colour (eg tramlines, extreme length, multiple colouring, non-natural colours) and excessive amounts of make-up are not acceptable for school.
• Scarves may be worn in the colder months only and should be plain.
• Caps are not permitted.

Jewellery

The school does not permit the wearing of jewellery. A small stud or plain earring in the earlobe is permitted. Pupils should not wear necklaces, bracelets or rings. Any facial, mouth or body piercing is banned and is considered a health and safety risk.

Games Kit – Girls/Boys

AGS logo t-shirt, black logo sweatshirt, black shorts, black socks, tracksuit bottoms or leggings, trainers with non-marking soles (to be worn for PE only).
