Welcome to Maths

The Mathematics Department believes that every student is able to take part in mathematical activity and seeks to promote a positive attitude to mathematics through enjoyable activities that help in the development of a personal confidence and perseverance.

Furthermore, the Department strives to enable each student to experience mathematics as a meaningful, stimulating and worthwhile activity, thus allowing students the opportunity to develop the abilities to think precisely, logically and creatively, and work both independently and co-operatively, to achieve success at the highest level possible. At all levels there is an emphasis on the application of mathematics to everyday situations, which promotes an appreciation of the place that mathematics has in society and the ways in which it is used.
